The Dr. Lacy and Edie Williams Circle of Excellence Plaza is a new plaza located in the center of the LSUS campus. The original idea for the plaza as developed by the staff of the LSUS Alumni Association was to be a ‘bricks and mortar’ way of recognizing the university’s 40th anniversary. Somdal Associates worked closely with the LSUS Alumni Association on a fast track basis to make the plaza a reality.

The plaza was built for approximately $250,000 dollars and is the single largest privately funded capital project in the university’s 40 year history. Dr. Lacy and Edie Williams were the lead donors contributing $150,000.

The Circle of Excellence Plaza has become a source of pride for the university and routinely serves as a gathering space for formal announcements, press conferences, and outdoor events. The plaza also fosters a sense of community among the students as they are encouraged to add their name to the ranks of past graduates.
