Shreveport Healthcare + Development Corridor

Shreveport, Louisiana

Somdal Associates led the development of a comprehensive master plan for the Shreveport Healthcare and Development Corridor in response to the need for safer, more accessible, and better-connected infrastructure along one of the city’s most critical urban corridors. Working in collaboration with the City of Shreveport, LSU Health Shreveport, Ochsner LSU Health Shreveport, LaDOTD, and other key stakeholders, the plan aligns transit, infrastructure, and urban design strategies to support long-term growth and equitable access to healthcare.

In August of 2022, the project received national recognition with a $22 million RAISE Grant from the U.S. Department of Transportation, matched by $5.5 million from the City of Shreveport, funding over $27 million in improvements along the 1.6-mile Kings Highway corridor between I-20 and I-49. The master plan outlines transformational upgrades including roadway reconstruction, Bus Rapid Transit, enhanced ADA accessibility, pedestrian and bicycle infrastructure, traffic signal improvements, and streetscape enhancements — advancing a resilient, connected, and health-focused urban environment.
